How Legal Cannabis Is Funding Roads, Schools, and Services in Northern Michigan

According to Cannabis Business Times, Michigan’s adult-use cannabis industry is delivering nearly $94 million in tax revenue to local communities through the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marijuana Act. Cities, townships, villages, counties, and tribes will receive $54,017.10 per licensed cannabis retail store or microbusiness, providing meaningful funding support for municipalities that host cannabis dispensaries and microbusiness operations.

For Northern Michigan communities such as Manistee, Beulah, Interlochen, Traverse City, and Cadillac, cannabis tax revenue helps fund local services, infrastructure, schools, and road repairs — demonstrating the economic impact of regulated cannabis sales. Dispensaries like Dunegrass and other licensed cannabis retailers operating in Manistee, Beulah, Interlochen, Traverse City, and Cadillac contribute directly to these community reinvestments, reinforcing the role cannabis businesses play in strengthening Michigan’s local economies. Benzie County (Beulah) will be getting $216, 068.40, Cadillac and Green Lake Township (Interlochen) will receive $108, 034.20 while Manistee will get $216,068.40.
