Ski Hickory Hills

This 125-acre public ski resort features 8 runs, 4 km. of cross-country trails and a vintage lodge. With night skiing and snowboarding well into the evening, Hickory Hills is a favorite of the Dunegrass community shredders.

Frankfort Beach

If you’re looking for the ultimate in chill, Frankfort Beach offers nice-sized waves for winter surfing right here in the Lower Peninsula. If you’ve got the guts for this rush, you deserve a little Dunegrass hit to relax after hittin’ the waves.

Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park

A part of Rails to Trails, this park has 92-miles of linear state park. The trail extends from northern Grand Rapids to Cadillac, and it lies on the path graded for the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad. Designated trails, and if you’re out riding, remember our Responsible Cannabis Guide, there’s a time and a place for everything. Operating a motor vehicle of any kind while impared is simply not cool.

Caberfae Peaks

Just 25 minutes from Dunegrass Cadillac, Caberfae Peaks offers excellent skiing and snowboarding, with huge vertical drop, consistently great snow and a good value! It’s the closest big ski resort to Cadillac residents, it takes less time to get to Caberfae Peaks than other resorts. More time on the slopes and less time spent on the road. And more time with Dunegrass afterwards!

Ski/Snowboard Missaukee Mountain

Just 25 minutes from Dunegrass Cadillac, this place has it all, from a bunny mound, beginner runs, intermediate slopes to expert challenge and moguls with three tow ropes. The mountain also has more than five miles of cross-country trails. Rentals are available for downhill and cross country ski equipment.

Diggins Hill

Located inside Diggins Hill Park, this is THE SPOT for downhill sledding in Cadillac. Open year round!

Spirit of the Woods

Located on Coates Hwy., Spirit of the Woods Conservation Club is over 40 acres on Bear Creek near Brethren MI. Open to the public, for free annual snowshoeing hikes where they educate you on Michigan’s preservation history. If you’re up for a slower roll, this might be worth checking out.

Orchard Beach State Park Loop

Get lost on this beautiful trail through Orchard Beach State Park. Great in the winter if you’re into snow-shoeing or XC-Skiing, this 2 mile loop located just north of Manistee along the lakeshore is op!en year round and is generally not crowded. Dog friendly, but make sure to use a leash.

Forestville Trails

The Forestville Cross Country Ski Trails in Marquette, is a 50K system with point-to-point and loop trails including a range of difficulty from beginner to expert. Trails are groomed for classic and skate skiing with 20k. Snowshoeing is allowed but only on the classic tracks. It’s recommended that snowshoers hit the singletrack from the Forestville Trailhead, then hit Dunegrass later!

Marquette Mountain

Experience the north woods at Marquette Mountain Resort. Whether you prefer slopes or trails, skiing or snowboarding, capture spectacular views of Lake Superior and spark up a cozy fire with friends. Located just minutes from downtown Marquette, Michigan.

UP200 Dogsled Race

This race, which happens every February, is one of the top mid-distance 12-dog races in the Midwest. At 228 miles long, the route runs from Marquette to Grand Marais and back. This is a truly unique experience, and visiting the different trail towns along the route can make for some very interesting stories. For more information, visit UP200.org.

Trenary Outhouse Classic

Watch as teams “Go” for the gold during this annual outhouse race down Main Street Trenary (40 mintes or so south of Marquette) every February. Competing teams build outhouses from wood, plastic, cardboard, piano crates, and other materials, attach skis to the bottom, then push them as fast as possible from one end of the street to the next. Otsego Resort

One of our favorite spots to shred, Crystal Mountain features 59 downhill slopes as well as a full hotel and resort experience. With 59 downhill runs, three terrain parks, and six chairlifts spread over more than 100 acres of terrain, Crystal Mountain has been rated as one of the best ski resorts in the country!

Mount Holiday

Located just a stone’s throw east of Traverse City, Mount Holiday offers affordable skiing, snowboarding, an tubing experiences for the whole family. Enjoy fantastic views of the bay on their 16 runs rated beginner to advanced.

Hickory Hills Recreation Area

This multi-season recreational area is fantastic for skiers and snowboarders with its 16 runs and has a 5k meandering trail just perfect for nordic skiers. Right next door is Hickory Meadows, a 112 acre nature preserve with 6km of groomed trails!
